My Thoughts On The Chick-Fil-A Issue
Posted By Aaron Marcelli on August 1, 2012
Ok…so this post really has nothing to do with the Chick-Fil-A issue. That was just a ploy to get you to read this post. But it worked, didn’t it?
You wanted to know my thoughts on the issue, didn’t you?
Over the last week I’ve seen many bloggers get a lot of traffic by sharing their thoughts about the chick-fil-a issue. This seems to happen any time there is a new or hot topic to cross the wire. Every news outlet and writer chimes in and their numbers and following immediately spike. It’s like everyone needs to know what everyone else thinks about the issue so then they can know what to believe. I’ve seen a political issue come up and someone say they aren’t sure what to think about it until they hear what their candidate has to say.
Really? Does no one have an original thought or their own opinion anymore? Do we just blindly agree with whatever those we follow are saying?
I would like to see more people who think independently rather than just agreeing down-the-line with whatever their pastor, political party, or favorite news network says. I’ve come to have a lot more respect for those who will reason for themselves rather than seeing where “their guy” stands on something and then just following along.
It’s not necessary we take a stand and give our opinion on every issue, but when we do it should be our opinion, not just a personalized version of what someone else influenced us to believe.
