Called to Blog
Posted By Aaron Marcelli on February 25, 2008
Beginning as far back as High School I have occasionally taken criticism, ridicule, and opposition when taking a personal position, whether it be spiritual, political, or social. This continued into college where after I had decided to enter ministry I expected persecution, but I didn’t think it would come from other Christians.
Not wanting to be the source of conflict or confrontation I have given in many times over the past years to the temptation to just hold my tongue to keep the peace. I assumed no one was interested in what I had to say or the daily details of what was happening in my life. A conviction has recently come up inside of me lately though. There has been constant encouragement from those I have opened up to as they would tell me I needed to be sharing such things in a larger capacity. And at times it has felt as though God Himself were saying to me, “I’m doing something in your life, why would you not share that with others?”
So I have decided to launch this site. I wanted to do it well and not just come off as another voice in the crowd exploiting the internet or public blog to play the part of a political expert or media critic. Rather, I have finally become comfortable with the idea of letting other people in and even inviting them along in my story. I realize that anytime we plant ourselves in and take a stand we have also made ourselves a very easy target, but I’m ok with that. Sometimes I get heat over no longer holding to all the specifics of what I was raised to believe. Sometimes I have been confronted for being willing to oppose particulars of the very people, places, beliefs, and organizations of which I am a part. I understand that some won’t understand me and others will follow what I say just to try and shoot it down. But when you have peace about what you are doing, such negatives are too insignificant to allow them to detour you. So as weird as it feels to say, I feel called to blog.
My story over the past few years has had some ups and downs, some exciting experiences, some very dry times, and a lot of lessons learned. My plan is to use this outlet as a place to inspire, encourage, and challenge others. I will recap some of the places I have walked by copying onto the blog entries I made months ago in my personal diary. I will also be very open about what I am learning and experiencing now rather than continuing to hold in everything God is showing me. And I hope that through my dialogue of where I have been and where it is leading me we will all walk in a brighter and more rewarding future.

Good to see you blogging Aaron. I hope that it goes well for you. I will have to add you to the blogs I follow. So are you still on staff at a church, or are you just speaking and writing only? Hope you are doing well man and I look forward to read about the lessons you have learned. When I was reading your blog, I was like “he hasn’t even been out of college that long,” but then I thought about it, and I guess it has been a little bit.
Aaron! this is great… sounds like this is going to be something I will definitely keep up with. I can tell that God has been working in your life, and I’m excited to hear what you have to say! Also, I enjoyed seeing you the other day; that was really random =]. Good luck getting into shape!! haha. Its great to hear from you
